A new information poster aimed at the general public has been created on why giving seals space is so vital to their health and survival.

We have been sent a very distressing video from a supporter, filmed on Horsey Beach. It shows a group of visitors including a small child who got far too close to a group of seals, even touching one and chasing it into the sea.

Sadly, it seems there are a growing number of seals in trouble for one reason or another. The one we rescued today was young and sick.

We rescued another seal today with green netting tangled around its neck which had caused a deep wound. It followed an early call to our FoHS Rescue Team.

Friends of Horsey Seals is warning people about the danger of getting too close to seals on Horsey and Winterton beaches after being sent photos by a worried supporter of beachgoers getting dangerously close to groups of grey and common seals.

Members of Friends of Horsey Seals rescue team were contacted by a member of the public about a seal with a lot of green netting stuck around its neck on Horsey beach.  After identifying the affected seal, they were able to capture it using a specialised net designed for the job.

Following a report about a young seal with a badly bleeding neck wound on the beach at Waxham recently, Friends of Horsey Seals Rescue team mobilised.

Just over three months ago, our Rescue Team picked up a seal with horrible neck injuries that had been caused by a rope digging into its flesh.

After several sightings on Horsey beach over the past few weeks, members of the Friends of Horsey Seals rescue team finally managed to catch a seal with piece of netting cutting into its neck.
