A lucky escape!

A member of the public sent us this photo of a seal with a plastic bag around its neck.

He’d found the seal on the beach that morning at Waxham and could clearly see that it wasn’t injured or cut round its neck.

He managed to unhook the bag off the seal with ease without causing it any stress. The seal then returned to the sea.

The bag is now disposed of.

A very lucky escape for this seal who wouldn’t have been able to remove the bag and as the seal had grown the bag would have become tighter around its neck.
